We are currently seeking a Voluntary Benefits Consultant to join our Employee Health & Benefits team. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategy relative to voluntary benefits (Accident, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness, Identity Theft, Legal, Pet Insurance, etc.) to support revenue growth and client retention, risk management and carrier relationships. This role will serve in a highly collaborative environment by partnering with the sales and client service teams to deliver comprehensive product and service offerings to strategic key accounts and prospects.

Success in this role requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Ancillary Benefits, with minimum of 2 of those years in Voluntary Benefits, sales or account management experience.
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of Voluntary Benefits programs, vendors, enrollment processes, underwriting and renewal strategies, communication standards, funding arrangements, administrative arrangements, insurance products and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated skill in project management and client implementation practices within the employee benefits consulting industry.
  • Demonstrated capability with diverse clientele, with specific experience operating at the C-level regarding negotiations, business development and relationship management.
  • Ability to interact and participate in a team selling approach with producer and other subject matter experts while utilizing MMA's chosen sales methodology.
  • Requires significant verbal and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior negotiating, and marketing skills to work with users, senior management, and external personnel on significant matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines.
  • Ability to present confidently and effectively and think creatively by drawing on prior knowledge, experience and problem solving skills in order to develop successful solutions.
  • Ability to multitask, organize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • A team player, with the ability to build and cultivate superior customer service while maintaining positive relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Minnesota life/health producer's license required.
  • Valid driver's license required to visit client sites/offices.
