Underwriting Manager - Energy

At Schinnerer, underwriting management has been a distinct discipline for over 60 years. Our expertise lies in evaluating risks, implementing program marketing, developing and executing risk management activities, and servicing accounts on behalf of our insurance company partners.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead and build Schinnerer's Alternative Energy Practice targeting a diverse group operation spanning from middle market to Risk Management clients.

The individual will lead the development of the program including business generation and servicing based on the backing of a premier global insurer. Additional responsibilities include developing servicing solutions and products to provide value to this industry segment. This includes the continued development & execution of the program guidelines, building sustainable long-term relationships with internal and external customers, and working along-side our executive team to manage long term growth & profit. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are required to effectively position our products in conjunction with the strength of our carrier partner.


  • Manage underwriting profit and growth.
  • Build sustainable long term relationships with our partners including our internal sales team, all Marsh retail offices and our existing network of 15,000 agents and brokers.
  • Actively involved in risk acquisition, assessment, pricing, servicing based on established guidelines.
  • Positioning of our product/program advantages in such a way that differentiate the program from existing competitors.
  • Works with claims & actuarial teams to understand trends within the book and industry in order to best position its long term success.


Skills Required of Potential Candidates Include
  • Strategic, goal-oriented leader within the Alternative Energy Industry.
  • Multi-line product experience, focused on operational excellence.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience within commercial underwriting operations, ideally some experience within the power generation segment.
  • Superior communication and organizational skills, as well as strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the US.
