Senior Mergers & Acquisitions Consultant

Working under the direction of the Engagement Manager in the context of a Private Equity Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) project and reporting to the M&A Market Leader, the Senior M&A Consultant exercises independent judgment to provide leadership and infrastructure development, management and improvement. The Senior M&A Consultant also supports cross-line of business M&A business development and contributes to building Global M&A Consulting Services through participation in management, operations and special projects. To fulfill this role, the Senior M&A Consultant will:

  • Work with M&A Engagement Managers and M&A Coordinators on US and multi-national M&A projects for private equity clients, involving single or multiple lines of business, to provide leadership in the delivery of client solutions by:
    • Providing leadership and momentum to cross-LOB Mercer teams and client teams as needed for M&A project success; providing project management and on-site Project Management Office leadership and management services to establish, maintain and improve project infrastructure
    • Leading or participating in delivery of culture, playbook, training and other M&A projects
    • Leading or participating in the conduct of due diligence, due by close and transition projects for private equity clients
    • Leveraging line of business consultants to deliver on subject matter expertise
    • Overseeing M&A Coordinator within context of specific projects
    • Focusing within these consulting areas for the M&A Consultant will depend on individual competencies, as well as client and business need.
  • Support the business goals of Global M&A Consulting Services by:
    • Identifying and closing in on value added opportunities for the client throughout the M&A engagement
    • Supporting M&A Engagement Manager business development activities by, e.g., developing materials, researching clients, prospects and Mercer offerings, preparing proposals, Engagement Letters / SOWs, managing other M&A protocols, , etc.); participate in client-facing business development activities as needed
  • Support development of the business (e.g., IC development, special projects, compliance, professional development)
