Office Leader

The Office Leader (OL) will be the face of Mercer and the growth leader for the local market. In addition, they will be responsible for driving the sales strategy in that office enabling cross-line of business (LOB) coordination, providing local market insights into the MLT, overseeing relationship management efforts and driving employee engagement. Select Office Leaders will participate in the Market Leadership Team (MLT) growth agenda.

To fulfill this role, the Office Leader will be responsible for -

  • delivering geography contribution to in-market NOI commitment
  • local execution of market-level business plans/strategy
  • meeting client growth targets and sales commitments
  • managing revenue growth commensurate with colleague-related expenses
  • Manage large-scale project teams to deliver quality results to clients
  • Develop and monitor budgets and deadlines; oversee staff; delegate and peer review all client work
  • Interact with clients on a regular basis by leading client meetings, answering questions, overseeing edits or changes, and providing requested materials; clarify and resolve unique and difficult issues related to client deliverables; apply advanced professional and or technical expertise to client projects
  • Generate revenue through acquisition of new clients, cross selling to current clients and extension of current client engagements to new activities including conducting face to face meetings with potential clients (prospects)
  • Understand all available products within the business and proactively reach out to provide targeted information on how Mercer offerings will benefit specific client's needs
  • Draft and edit materials for meeting preparation and RFP responses
  • Lead the development and execution of a cross LOB growth plan with the ultimate goal of achieving a high position in the local marketplace and become the employer of choice for clients
  • Ensure that the best and most appropriate resources are deployed on client assignments and monitor the effectiveness of client teams
  • Partner with Office Business Leaders (OBLs) to hire, retain, grow and develop talent
  • Ensure the use of business tools and processes and actively encourage commitment to our business policies, practices and professional standards
  • Promote and support cross LOB office activities and events
  • Supervise four or more employees as direct reports with full authority for people management including: assigning, directing, and evaluating work; hiring, disciplining and firing employees; conducting performance evaluations and career development discussions; approving salary and bonus actions; and ensuring appropriate orientation and on-going education/training
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • 15+ years' experience in a consulting environment with proven ability to generate revenue by acquiring new clients and experience managing and developing a team of professionals
  • Strong sales and marketing skills plus the ability to market communication strengths successfully
  • Excellent organizational, project management and leadership skills
