JOB TITLE: Senior Financial Analyst


REPORTS TO: Dan King, VP of Analytics and Robin Bonner, Manager of Analytics


The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for all activities assigned by the company. They will assist MMA clients in understanding their health plan financial performance. They will provide timely recommendations for improvement and help clients with their strategic planning. They will coordinate data collection from contracted payors. They will help maintain good carrier and client relationships. They will assist in the resolution of specific plan design issues that arise from time to time. This individual will report to management team of the Analytics Department and support the MMA sales leads, account executives, and account managers.


  • Meet with prospective clients to discuss objectives, strategy and timelines in monitoring health plans
  • Assist sales and service personnel with relevant financial analysis
  • Provide ongoing training of sales and account management personnel
  • Develop and maintain financial reports for client's health plans
  • Analyze and evaluate performance of client health plans
  • Meet with clients to discuss and explain the performance of their health plans
  • Assist sales personnel in developing strategies for health plan changes
  • Assist in establishing a relationship with HR department of prospects as well as clients
  • Develop value of health plan changes
  • Assist sales personnel in analyzing renewals from carriers
  • Develop premium equivalents rates for self-funded health plans
  • Assist in developing client employee contribution strategies
  • Produce claims reserves estimates for self funded health plans
  • Produce annual summary reviews for client health plans
  • Produce annual Book of Business benchmarks
  • Provide weekly status of all client related work on special projects to sales personnel
  • Assist with or direct special projects as needed
  • Supervise the training and development of Financial Analysts
  • Assist in maintaining all vendor relationships
  • Assist the management committee in career and staff development

  • Extensive employee benefit consulting experience (5+ years)
  • Extensive underwriting/actuarial experience for medical, drug, and dental products (10+ years)
  • Extensive accounting experience, preferably insurance industry related (5+ years)
  • Extensive Excel experience and familiarity with various database software
  • Extensive analytical work and face-to-face experience with large employer groups (1000+ ees)
  • Extensive carrier and/or TPA background working with self-funded and fully-insured medical, drug, and dental plans
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • A self-starter - ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with claims reporting systems
  • Excellent communication skills
