Director of MMC Insights, Technology

As Director at Marsh & McLennan Insights, you will be responsible for:

Thought leadership delivery
  • Together with the MMC Insights team and an advisory panel drawn from MMC's operating companies (OpCos), define and set the research agenda on Transformative Technologies and contribute to agenda setting for MMC Insights
  • Lead teams consisting of thought leaders from different MMC OpCos, external research partners and Insights staff to produce research on digital transformation, opportunities and implications of transformative technologies
  • Support projects being undertaken in different themes, offering perspectives and analysis
  • Create high-impact reports and articles, ensuring best-in-class quality content (and graphics where appropriate) providing insights based on industry, country, and client-specific expertise


Center and thought leadership promotion
  • Promote the Center among senior MMC / OpCo executives to ensure leverage of its materials and output
  • Understand OpCo strategic priorities, value propositions and marketing agenda to ensure alignment with commercial objectives
  • Prepare and lead executive level workshops, roundtables and conferences on developed research; take speaker roles at select client events and 3rd party conferences
  • Work with Insights, MMC and OpCo Marketing and OpCo client relationship leads to ensure strong promotion of the Center's outputs - including web presence, social media, presentation materials
  • Build network of external experts, thought leaders, research institutions, drawn from the corporate, NGO, government and academic sectors
  • Source potential new research partners
  • Propose articles for the transformative technologies theme in MMC insights - the external facing content platform for Marsh and McLennan companies (www.mmc.com/insights)
  • Propose articles and people (internal /external) for BRINK News, the daily newsletter and internet site for risk-related news (www.brinknews.com)
  • Guide and train the research teams on Transformative Technologies related analytical approaches and techniques, and lead the development of new analytical methodologies for the Insights team
  • Educate internal colleagues in MMC, Insights and the OpCo's in your thematic topic


MMC Insights development and operations
  • Understand the cross-cutting client risk concerns and key thought leadership work being executed within the OpCos - updating others in the Center (incl. anticipate issues and themes from prior experience)
  • Provide clear reporting on outcomes of research initiatives in conjunction with Insights marketing
  • Propose / deliver operational innovations / enhancements with respect to your theme
  • Acts as a leader, mentor, and role model, demonstrating leadership in nurturing talent including the development and coaching of junior team members (rotational staff and fixed staff); write reviews on project and annual performance basis, give input into performance outcome reviews and bonus decisions


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We look for initiative, intuition and creativity with a strong background in problem solving and analytics in the field of transformative technologies. We are seeking an experienced professional with 10+ years of experience with the following skills and attributes:
  • Enquiring / inquisitive mentality
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Project management experience, preferably in a consulting environment
  • People management, convening and consensus building
  • Networking and engagement (including ideally an existing strong, global network)
  • Organizational skills
  • Public presentations and speaking experience
  • Demonstrates sophisticated, holistic, interdisciplinary "out of the box thinking"
  • The candidate should bring a track record of producing engaging, high quality written communication in either in academic or business environments


The ideal candidate would possess a strong track record in understanding and addressing the business and societal implications of transformative technologies, including applications, opportunities and risks. This includes:
  • Broader macro trends shaping the fourth industrial revolution (e.g. shift to mobile, shifting consumption patterns, sharing economy, data explosion and pervasiveness)
  • digital transformation strategy and implementation, especially for traditional organizations
  • Knowledge in practical applications for transformative technologies including (but not limited to) Machine Learning, Blockchain, cryptocurrencies, Internet of Things in critical industries (e.g. Financial Services, Retail, Healthcare, Energy)
  • Opportunities that technologies enable to shape healthy societies, smarter infrastructure, climate resilience, and a more empowered workforce
  • Broad challenges of deploying transformative technologies, including governance challenges, cyber risk challenges and workforce transformation challenges
  • Current and developing standards and regulatory environments related to transformative technologies
  • Access to an existing network of corporate, government/regulatory, academic, and startup ecosystem contacts
  • This position will require travel for events and meetings outside of your local office, though largely limited to the regional geography and primarily short in duration.
