API Developer

Position Summary:

We are seeking an API/Microservices developer with a strong hands-on development track record in building integrations utilizing a variety of integration products, tools, protocols, technologies and patterns. The ideal candidate has expert knowledge with a track record of solution delivery using various data integration solutions in situations requiring real time (synchronous and asynchronous) messaging, Publish/Subscribe models, Microservices patterns, Middleware, and other related methodologies in a multi-user, multi-platform, multi-tier environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and stakeholders to evaluate and understand business concepts and processes
  • Participate in large-group, coordinated planning sessions, provides effort estimates and timeline commitments, Refine and groom the product backlog and user stories
  • Design and implement Technical/Integration Architecture, including development, runtime and operation architectures that service both user and overall business goals
  • Test and build automation for the interoperability of application components under development, across multiple platforms, and in coordination with other product development teams
  • Work with other developers to ensure teams are meeting the objectives of the business while adhering to technical and architectural standards and practices
  • Collaborate with Technical Architects and others to design and implement integrated enterprise solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of current technologies , research emerging technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations on implementation
  • Deliver high quality assignments on time, within budget

To be considered for this career opportunity, we require the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 7 years of professional information technology experience, including 5+ years of integration and architecture
  • In-depth understanding of SOA/EAI/ESB concepts, SOA Governance, Event Driven Architecture, message based architectures, file sharing and exchange platforms, data virtualization and caching strategies, J2EE design patterns, frameworks
  • Experience developing in C#
  • Advanced skills implementing API Service architectures (SOAP, REST) using any of the market leading API Management tools such as Apigee and frameworks such as Spring Boot for Microservices
  • Significant understanding of Microservice patterns & concepts & its application in problem solving
  • Understanding of cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platforms
  • Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and Container Management software (Kubernetes, Mesos) using Red Hat OpenShift
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and automated testing strategies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ideally experience with reinsurance
  • Ideally exposure to at least one of the major Catastrophe modelling systems from RMS, AIR or CoreLogic, although not essential
  • General understanding of Insurance principles and concepts
