The Role
The Sales Internship program is geared towards rising seniors who, upon graduation, are interested in sales and business development roles in a fast-growing company in the financial technology space.
The Sales Internship program will allow you to rotate through client and dealer sales to gain broad product exposure over the course of approximately 9 weeks. Through the rotations, you will begin to learn how MarketAxess brings together the key players in the fixed income markets, giving them increased access to pre trade data, improved price transparency and trading efficiency. You will also gain exposure to our largest institutional investors (including the world’s top 100 asset management firms, mutual funds, pension funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, and others) and our dealer partners (a broad global network of 150+ firms including Barclays, Citigroup Capital Markets, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and many others).
How You'll Help Take Us There
- Strategize alongside our sales team as they create and deliver external messaging
- Create and run reports on platform data, analyze performance and build presentations
- Build a network and knowledge that affords you access to our sales team and their customer base. Potential opportunities to attend external meetings based on performance.
- Receive an overview of MarketAxess and our role in the financial markets through formal classroom training
- Rotate through our various teams; gain exposure to trading bonds across investment grade, high yield, emerging markets, municipal bonds, and rates
- Assist in client onboarding, relationship management, and the roll out of new initiatives
- Embrace globalization: Collaborate with your colleagues across regions and offices while working on a group project. Our group project will give you exposure to our largest upcoming initiatives and allow you to contribute to building our business.
- Attend meetings and events with our existing sales team, including weekly update meetings, calls, entertainment, etc.
- Meet senior management across the organization during weekly breakout sessions and roundtable discussions
- Collaborate with both Senior and Junior mentors who will guide you through your program and provide unique industry insight.
What We're Looking for
- Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program from an accredited college or university. This internship is intended for students with 1-2 semesters to complete until their degree is conferred.
- All majors considered although a degree in finance, Economics, or Professional Sales is preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without employment visa sponsorship required now or in the future
- Passion for client interaction, relationship management and business development
- Strong results orientation
- Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $30 USD per hour. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
