Strategic Account Executive


We are looking for an experienced and capable strategic account executive.  You’ll grow a book of business with 30-40 accounts, each one accounting for at least $50,000 of annual sales.  In addition, you’ll prospect new accounts that are a good fit with the Margot Elena brand library.  If you have the skills, you’ll also get opportunities to identify, close and grow domestic and global distribution partners and brokers.

  • Immerse yourself in the Margot Elena brands
  • Implement and continually improve a regular planning and execution rhythm with each account you manage
  • Develop and maintain long-term business relationships with accounts, corporate buyers, district and regional managers, and other retail managers and buyers
  • Employ sales and negotiating strategies to develop new business opportunities
  • Display a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and sophisticated image in the representation of products and brands
  • Negotiate deals with emphasis on ease of partnership, implementation and management of terms, discounts, marketing and advertising within new and existing accounts in order to maximize value to both the company and the customer
  • Engage, oversee, train, and travel with retailers / brokers / distributors to support their selling efforts, increase business, and acquire new accounts
  • Visit clients to maximize relationship and business opportunities, addressing issues independently for each client
  • Travel to customer locations to understand the client’s business, develop relationships, participate in events, and ensure that assortments and merchandising are optimal for all brands
  • Influence retail decision makers through enthusiastic product demonstration, education, merchandising, and sales training and support
  • Design and present plans oriented towards gaining increased floor space and more advantageous product placement within the retailer / distributor space
  • Participate in trade shows, expos and other events to interact with customers and prospects
  • In partnership with the senior management team, develop, implement, and meet the goals of a strategic business plan, marketing program, and sales objectives
  • Build rapport with each customer to promote longevity and satisfaction, while supporting our commitment in creating an outstanding experience for our customers
  • Effectively grow distribution through new client acquisition, as well as growth within existing customer base
  • Handle administrative and procedural duties related to order processing, fulfillment, and resolution of issues
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned; responsibilities may change and grow over time

You will be expected to travel and support our business at trade shows in this role:

  • Travel to client locations throughout the assigned regional territory, trade shows, events, and elsewhere, as needed.  Up to 50% travel expected

  • Ability to meet short-deadline goals on a daily basis and adapt to rapidly changing needs
  • Self-discipline; self-starter with good facilitation, project management and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Experience and adaptability with a fast changing, complex, dynamic and entrepreneurial working atmosphere selling to much larger companies
  • Strong professional presentation, verbal and written skills; communicating with leadership, management as well as internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Strong computer skills; highly proficient with MS Office and CRM / database software


  • Degree preferred
  • A minimum of five years of successful sales experience
  • Experience selling to regional/corporate buyers of multi-store retail accounts
  • Able and willing to travel 50%; travel by airplane; rental car; work evenings and weekends on occasion if needed; lift and maneuver a travel kit weighing up to 40 lbs.; and work long hours in motion and on your feet 
  • Strategic professional sales acumen
  • Experience in representing luxury goods, fragrance, bath & beauty or cosmetics is preferred
