Manager, Video Content

Overview

The Manager, Video Content is responsible for producing and managing video content for the Major League Soccer video department which services the League Office and the Digital Sales Team, as well as produces content for the League’s official website, MLSsoccer.com and league partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead studio and field productions from creation to completion, including: ideation, scripting, scheduling, budgeting, production, distribution and content review
  • Manage production of various digital video series across production groups: news & analysis, custom content and features.
  • Manage experienced on-camera talent and develop emerging on-camera personalities
  • Optimize content utilizing analytics to maximize engagement and drive business results
  • Optimize video content for all social platforms and distribution channels
  • Manage junior producers, editors, as well as freelancer creators
  • Manage hiring and onboarding process by interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Accomplish team results by communicating job expectations and managing the Performance Management process:
    • Plan, monitor, and review performance;
    • Coach and counsel employees;
    • Develop and implement department procedures and productivity standards and reinforce Company policies
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for employees

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience creating compelling digital content
  • Hands on production experience in general entertainment/news/sports with a minimum of 4+ years progressively responsible experience
  • Basic shooting and editing skills and familiarity with AVID Systems
  • Experience with and knowledge of leading and emerging social media platforms
  • Experience with developing an editorial calendar/programming schedule

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

 Preferred Skills

  • Advanced shooting and editing skills a plus
  • Knowledge of the Spanish Language (business proficiency) a plus
