Manager, Social Responsibility


The Social Responsibility Manager works directly with the Vice President, Social Responsibility to implement national programs, events and campaigns aimed at raising the visibility of the League, players and clubs and enhancing the MLS and MLS WORKS brand. This position will support the day-to-day execution of MLS WORKS initiatives, including program management, promotional messaging and brand exposure. The ideal candidate should have a strong combination of strategic and executional skills, experience managing events and projects from conception to completion, and be able to work collaboratively across various departments within an organization.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of programs that target key social issues for fans designed to enhance the MLS and MLS WORKS brand and the visibility of the League, players and clubs
  • Coordinate and execute marketing and promotional elements around all programs and initiatives (print, broadcast, in-stadium and electronic communication)
  • Manage MLS WORKS digital platforms, with support from MLS Digital and Social departments, including content development and promotional schedules
  • Deepen and refine communications materials associated with MLS WORKS initiatives
  • Work closely with Vice President to schedule and coordinate service projects, campaigns and outreach efforts around MLS tent pole events (e.g. MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup).
  • Manage and distribute key program metrics
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with club community relations staff, communicating individually on a regular basis and as a group to share best practices

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-8+ years of experience a must


  • Understanding of sports and entertainment sponsorships, including promotions, events, media, contracts and client services
  • Must be proactive and results driven
  • Creative strategist with the ability to enhance current programs and develop new opportunities
  • Understanding of brand awareness
  • Experience with creation of digital programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and basic website navigation
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail
  • High level of commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to travel
