As part of the Design and Construction (D&C) organization, the Director of Construction will lead the precon, construction and installs of each Creative Suite project from scoping and estimation, through to punch and opening date. They will manage overall strategy for our build outs and lead the cross collaboration efforts to ensure our projects are buildable, scalable, and cost-effective. This role will be critical to our ability to scale as we pursue increasingly complex deals, including full new buildings and rehabilitation build outs.

  • Build out a centralized construction function within the org
  • Set up processes and protocols for reviewing real estate rollout and development deals to ultimately increase the number of deals we sign
  • Evaluate and refine our current rollout process to improve performance 
  • Prepare scope of work, project budgets, cost estimates, and schedules
  • Negotiate strategic deals with high quality vendors to reduce development costs 
  • Build a strategy for partnering with regional GC’s / subs with preferred pricing and trusted workmanship for future bulk and large scale rollouts / buildouts
  • Manage quality control and resolve work delays, emergencies, and other issues that arise 
  • Review contractor proposals and bids for accuracy and proficiency
  • Evaluate and reconcile vendor invoices, budgets and schedules
  • Monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations
  • Report work progress and budget concerns to Designers
  • Select, schedule, and coordinate subcontractor activities
  • Work with cross functional departments, including Operations, Interior Design, Corporate Sales, Revenue, Finance and Real Estate to ensure accurate coordination and on time and budget delivery


  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited program (Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management) 
  • 8+ years of client-facing Construction Management experience
  • High end/luxury brand construction experience (premium fashion, 4+ star hotels, etc.) 
  • Strong people management skills, particularly with contractors, with an ability to influence both internally and externally
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow through skills
  • Attention to detail and appreciation for creative and thoughtful design and building
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with senior management, owners and partners, city officials and various contractors and consultants
  • Knowledge of the various regionally specific code, permitting and municipality construction requirements (NYC, LA, SF, MIA, SEA, BOS, etc...) 
  • General Contractor experience or Owners Rep experience as an acting CM is required
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the year
