Payroll Manager

Lyft is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Accounting team as a Payroll Manager. This candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and rapidly changing environment. This role will manage the daily operations of the U.S. payroll functions, ensuring all payments made to our 5,000+ employees are accurate, timely, and in accordance with all federal, state and local tax regulations. In addition, this role will be responsible for cross-functional, collaborative efforts to improve and enhance current payroll processes, prepare and develop a variety of reports for external and internal resources, ensure accurate tax filings, as well as ensure the policies and procedures for the payroll department are documented and in compliance with SOX.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage the disbursement of US payrolls, including benefits, taxes, 401K activity, incentives/bonuses, as well as any other related compensation adjustments to 5,000+ employees, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local county regulations

  • Establish a process for monthly and transactional control reviews to ensure payroll processes are compliant with established department internal controls and SOX

  • Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations are completed accurately, timely and in compliance with regulations

  • Manage the reporting from Workday HRIS and ADP Workforce Now as it relates to gross payroll, tax deductions, benefit deductions and employee status change requests, to ensure consistency between systems and with source records

  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of 4 Payroll Specialists

  • Lead, recommend and participate in projects to continually review and improve current processes and internal controls

  • Manage and audit W-2s and yearly administration of payroll in preparation of the following calendar year

  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with all levels of the organization. Work closely with key clients, 3rd party providers, HR, Finance, Accounting, and others to resolve issues and drive end-to-end process improvements

  • Maintain communication with payroll service providers regarding software updates and new products available to be able to initiate the use of new features along with HR, provide oversight of 401(k) contributions and loan payments


 Experience:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in payroll 

  • 3+ years of experience managing teams

  • Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills

  • Must be detail-oriented

  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Prior Workday and ADP experience, including Time and Attendance, required; experience with Oracle strongly preferred
