Director, Physical Security - East

The Director, Physical Security will establish physical security policies, procedures and protocols to safeguard Lyft’s tangible and intangible assets by executing measures to protect and reduce risk to physical, informational, financial, and intellectual property assets. This person will be able to leverage new and emerging technologies to ensure early identification of potential risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies to protect Lyft’s company assets. This position will be responsible for these attributes in all new, remodeled and existing Lyft owned and operated locations. They will also be responsible for employee safety education and awareness training programs.
 
The ideal person will have a proven track record of implementing and executing security strategies, policies and procedures  aligned with business goals and objectives to enhance corporate value and mitigate legal and brand reputation risks.              

 

Responsibilities:


  • Develop a Safety and Security plan for assigned area of responsibility, getting support from key business stakeholders

  • Effectively communicate security plan to employee population achieving full support and buy in from field teams

  • Identify goals and objectives consistent with corporate strategic plans and define metrics to measure overall performance

  • Implement security and threat management programs to support the safety and well-being of employees and physical assets

  • Provide investigative support and expertise for matters requiring focused attention

  • Monitor and maintain relationships with key vendors, ensuring their activities are focused on primary objective; protecting Lyft’s people, assets and reputation

  • Maintain relationships with law enforcement and related governmental agencies worldwide

  • Manage Security Department’s annual financial plan and budget

  • Respond to security related incident in a quick and effective matter


 Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 10-20 years of large scale corporate security experience required; (Law enforcement experience included)

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required

  • Strong strategic planning skills 

  • Solid project management skills with ability to achieve results in a matrix-managed organization

  • Demonstrated success advocating new and creative ideas, methods and approaches, and integrating best practices

  • Executive presence with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, effective at building trust

  • Demonstrated experience with budget planning and management
