CRE/SBA Real Estate Business Development Officer

Burbank, CA

The CRE/SBA Real Estate Business Development Officer position is responsible in developing contacts and leads in order to generate CRE and SBA Real Estate (Small Business Administration) Loans. The main product line is to provide financing, on Commercial Real Estate Properties. Ensures compliance with internal policies as well as all related laws and regulations. 

  • Develops strategies to originate CRE and SBA real estate loans in the marketplace.
  • Calls on and develops a referral network with commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, business/professional associations, accountants, lawyers, etc. to solicit CRE and SBA real loan opportunities.
  • Builds effective relationships and trust with members and potential members by listening to and uncovering their loan needs.
  • Pro-actively seeks information from clients and prospective clients to understand possible changing situations, needs and desired benefits and evaluate product or service alternatives.
  • Works with branches and loan officers in the structuring of submitted loans.
  • Establishes and maintains thorough prospect file, review and access on a scheduled basis.
  • Keeps updated on changes to SBA and Commercial lending environment, credit union competition, and member’s business environment.
  • Achieves sales goals.
  • Adheres to general credit union regulatory procedures.
  • Conducts effective networking, outreach strategies and on-site visits to determine the business’ feasibility.
  • Reviews client’s loan applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with established criteria, determine eligibility, and analyze the customer’s repayment ability.
  • Structures loan proposals, develops Commercial SBA real estate loan packages, and gathers pertinent financial information.
  • Discusses potential loans with the Business Lending Manager and obtains a Letter of Intent and if applicable a rate lock form to present to the borrower or broker.
  • Explains reasons for denial or other options to members.
  • Performs site visits as needed.
  • Must consistently report to work on time, as scheduled.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have three (3) or more years of successful business development experience in Sales.
  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate or equivalent work experience.
  • The individual is expected to have an understanding of the CRE and SBA Real Estate Loan Programs and the ability to analyze the responsibility of a borrower’s request.
  • Banking experience is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate experience and skills in credit, sales, and marketing.
  • Must have basic analytical skills and knowledge of lending regulations, and credit/underwriting practices.
  • Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as outstanding people skills.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the Commercial Real estate and SBA lending business, legal aspects of related financial products and services, bylaws and regulations that apply to federally chartered credit unions. Must have ability to read, understand, and analyze complex tax returns for the purposes of determining the qualifications of a potential borrower.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products.
