Wind Tunnel Model Design Engineer

Description:Candidate will perform design of wind tunnel models and test support hardware as well as coordinate fabrication of hardware with fabrication vendors for both Lockheed Martin and outside customers on various defense and commercial contracts. May require some support of wind tunnel test operations during model installation phase. Candidate will also be involved in the design and fabrication of special strain gaged balance instrumentation used for the measurement of aerodynamic forces and moments. Experience with MATLAB, FORTRAN, Visual Basic and LabVIEW is desirable as additional duties will include supporting software development of balance calibration routines and dynamic data acquisition and analysis routines. A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
CAD design experience
Stress analysis experience (Classical and FEA)
Understanding of machining and fabrication processes
Cursory knowledge of aerodynamic principles
Ability to travel to vendor sites for hardware buy-off
Must possess or be able to obtain DoD secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
- Machine tooling design experience
- Force and moment instrumentation design experience with strain gage devices
- Rapid prototyping/3D printing experience
- Pro-E/Creo experience
- Wind tunnel model design experience
- MATLAB, LabVIEW, FORTRAN and/or Visual Basic experience
