Welder Arc

Description:Second shift position.

Performs all welding and related fabrication processes on complex drawers, cabinets, subassemblies, precision guided systems and facilities projects.

1. Performs TIG and/or MIG welding on LGTR, drawers and cabinets in accordance with supplied instructions.

2. Sets up and maintains welding equipment.

3. Use fixtures or table set ups as necessary using clamps or angle plates to produce the correct shapes and dimensions.

4. Can work to tight tolerances.

5. Performs welding in the best sequence to minimize warpage and distortion.

6. May repair or rework parts to restore to required tolerances which have become distorted as a result of welding operations or other processes.

7. Works to and understand manufacturing instructions.

8. Knows the difference between basic metal groups such as steel, aluminum and stainless steel.

9. Proficient with various hand tools such as hammers, chisels, squares and straight edges.

10. Proficient with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and scales.

11. Performs grinding, straightening and metal finishing to meet final product finish requirements.

12. Can be counted on to make the proper corrections during production to obtain good quality parts.

13. Good knowledge of welding symbols.

14. Can read prints and sketches with regard to fabrication and can follow written and/or verbal instructions.

15. Must have a thorough knowledge of safety and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment.

16. Maintains a clean and safe work area.

17. Can work well with others and cross shift with others on the same work.

18. Physical condition allowing:
a. Lift 50 pounds
b. Standing, sitting, bending, walking, reaching up to 9 hours per day.
c. Personal protective equipment including: Steel toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, wearing respirator.

19. Cleans and prepares parts for welding by wire brushing, abrasive shot blast, aqueous or solvent cleaning.

20. Straighten parts that have distorted due to machining and or welding.

21. Clean, shotblast and apply metal flame spray.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in TIG and/or MIG welding on aluminum, steel or stainless steel parts such as drawers and cabinets in accordance with supplied instructions. Knowledge of the difference between basic metal groups such as steel, aluminum and stainless steel. Proficient with various hand tools such as hammers, chisels, squares and straight edges and measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and scales. Good knowledge of welding symbols. Ability to read prints and sketches with regard to fabrication and can follow written and/or verbal instructions. Must have a thorough knowledge of safety and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment.

• Must have own basic tools
• This facility requires special access and therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
1. Application of metal flame spray to tight tolerances.

2. Brazing

3. Flame/plasma cutting.
