Tool Engineer Senior / Tool Design / GD&T / Troy, AL

Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Tool Designer to support the Pike County Operations (PCO) located near Troy, Alabama. PCO is a state-of-the-art facility providing the safest and most advanced missile assembly and test operation of its kind. This center support sales in excess of $1B annually.

Primary Responsibilities include:
•Collaborate with design engineering, production and other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and fabricate special tools, holding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection gauges necessary for the manufacture of components to the requirements of the engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models
•Create detailed tool design drawings, complete with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), utilizing PTC Creo and CATIA V5.
•Provide shop floor support as necessary to resolve tooling, technical and/or manufacturing related issues.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Willingness to learn and receive training, and if required, train others.

The Locale: Troy, Alabama is located in the East Gulf Coastal Plains region of southeastern Alabama. Troy's climate is typical of areas along the Gulf of Mexico in that it has hot, humid summers and mild winters. Troy is a great place to live offering lots of things to do and has a small town charm. Troy is also a college town and is home to Troy University. Where can you get to from Troy? Troy is just under an hour south of Montgomery, Alabama. Troy is about 2.5 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico and Fort Walton Beach and Florida's Pan Handle. Troy is about three hours from Atlanta, GA.

MFCREFER
Basic Qualifications:
•(5) yrs experience designing fixtures, inspection gauges and other special tools required for the assembly of components into end item products.
•Ability to read drawings and specifications.
•Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
•Advanced ability utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) - PTC Creo, CATIA V5 or equivalent.
•Experience and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering/Technology
•Ability to obtain a secret clearance & work in an ordnance facility and must have at least an interim secret clearance prior to start.
Desired Skills:
•PTC Creo & CATIA V5 CAD
•Windchill PLM
•General knowledge of machining, assembly, inspection, and test processes.
•Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, including Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
•Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
•Experience working on projects with teams as a leader and participant
•Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military specifications
