Systems Architect Principle Engineer / Colorado Springs, CO
This requisition is for a Chief Architect/Engineer role within the Lockheed Martin Energy Smart Grid Solutions Organization. Designs, develops and oversees system architectures, including complex systems and systems design activities. Efforts are both internal and for Systems Integration and Smart Grid Solutions customers. Candidate will serve as focal point for the development and communication of the system architecture. Candidate ensures conversion of mission requirements into total integrated systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system. Candidate develops systems and system element architecture, design, and interface definition. Supports internal and external design reviews. Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies. Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development based on best practices and industry standards.
This is a senior position that requires a highly motivated individual with demonstrated exemplary verbal and written communication skills as well as customer interface experience. It is not unusual to have multiple concurrent responsibilities. It is critical that candidate be highly organized and have a follow-through mindset.
This role will be expected to perform the following duties for the Smart Grid Solutions Organization:
•Provide technology leadership for design and development of Independent System Operator (ISO) and Utility Product-Line(s) Architectures.
•Thought leader and visionary for development and attainment of a systems integration product area within Smart Grid Solutions.
•Maintaining the architectural integrity of current energy programs.
•Assist Smart Grid Solutions Leadership in development of product area strategic roadmap(s) to meet long range goals.
•Pursue new technology concepts and support the business area in defining Research and Development (R&D) needs.
•Support proposal capture and development activities. Prepare and review technical write-ups for these activities.
•Support to Internal and External design reviews, tiger teams, etc.
•Have significant interface and support to the Smart Grid Solutions senior leadership as well as senior customers and customer technical staff.
•Assists in the selection, training, and development of the associated technical staff.
•Travel to support business capture, director program execution as needed.
•Lockheed Martin Qualified Systems Architect.
•Graduate degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related major.
•15 Years demonstrable experience in systems, software and infrastructure development.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
•Strong Leader that is able to lead diverse teams
•Significant Experience with designing/developing/integrating C2 systems
•Demonstrable understanding of the systems engineering vee and transitioning to operability
•Proficient in SysML
•Knowledgeable of Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP)
•Demonstrable knowledge/experience working across product development lifecycles
•Ability to articulate/translate traditional systems engineering analysis & design tasks to an agile methodology development effort.
•Experience in Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development and scenario based functional decomposition
•Independent Systems Operator and or Utility engineering/operational background
•Experienced with Operations Concept Document (OCD) authorship and structure
•Mission analysis and mission essential task delineation
•Experience in authoring technical volumes for new business proposals
•Experience is authoring statements of work
•Authorship of Systems Engineering Management Plan SEMP
•Authorship of Software Development Plan (SDP)
