Supplier Quality Field Engineer (SQFE)

Serve as full-time Supplier Quality Field Engineer (SQFE) supporting the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) at UTC Aerospace Systems located in Wolverhampton, England. The position will be badged to the Missile and Fire Control location in Dallas, Texas; however, the actual work location will be in Wolverhampton, England working the same work hours as the UTC Aerospace facility works. Assignment will be an on-site resident representative performing supplier surveillance, first article inspections, production line validations, test equipment validations, and source inspection activities. In addition the candidate will have the responsibilities to support sub-tier suppliers that support UTC Aerospace supply base. Duties include:

Perform in-process surveillance of electrical and mechanical commodities/manufacturing processes at UTC Aerospace and their sub-tier supplier base

Perform Witness Acceptance Testing of end item electrical assemblies and review final documentation packages as required to validate hardware compliance prior to shipment

Participate (as required) in supplier's failure/diagnosis and Material Review Board (MRB) activities

Perform on-going surveillance of supplier's conformance to Lockheed Martin requirement documents and provide written weekly reports. Must be able to identify and document supplier's quality deficiencies and ensure effective corrective action

Perform first article inspections, production line validations, test equipment validation as needed due to design/drawing changes

Provide technical liaison support related to design and quality engineering matters. Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Management, Supplier Quality Management, Subcontract (buyers), and Government Representatives.

Ensure supplier contract flow-down requirements are implemented and verified and interfaces with supplier on a daily basis.

The position will require working flexible hours, possible weekends.

The position will require some travel and support for other suppliers as required by the program.

Basic Qualifications
The candidate must be capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems, be able to focus on continual improvement practices, using tools like SPC and Causal Analysis to drive Corrective and Preventive Action

Able to document all activities in the Surveillance Plans, Source Tools, and weekly reports

Able to utilize Microsoft programs in support of the daily assignments to help communicate with the supplier and Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) Dallas management

Working knowledge and understanding of SAP and P2P Systems to support the procurement and source activities tasks on a daily basis

Extensive technical knowledge and experience in the area of Supplier Quality

Must be able to identify and document supplier's quality deficiencies and ensure effective corrective action. Provide technical liaison support related to design and quality engineering matters

Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Management, Supplier Quality Management, Subcontract (buyers), and Government Representatives

Knowledge and understanding of critical design attributes, source acceptance and auditing/surveying is required

Strong background in understanding engineering drawing requirements including GD&T, electrical and mechanical inspection methods, a basic understanding of special process surveys and an overall understanding of how to manage and interface with a supplier on a daily bases to support MFC Programs

Ability to travel and provide support for other suppliers as required by program

Ability to work flexible hours and possible weekends

Desired skills
Demonstrated leadership, customer relationship management skills

Due to the technical nature of the task requirements, a technical degree is a plus

American Society for Quality Certification and / or Lean / Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt / Black
Belt)

Very strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the position

Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering requirements including GD&T knowledge

A basic understanding of the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) SAP business systems software will be necessary to support the position
