Staff SRM Propulsion Engineer, Grand Prairie (DFW), TX

Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Staff Aeronautical / Propulsion Engineer to join our creative team of engineers in Dallas, Texas. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control's highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry.
This specific position is related to Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion Engineering for performing research, design, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of new aerospace products and technologies.

The candidate for this Staff Aeronautical / Propulsion Engineering position will be responsible for the following responsibilities related to the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM): perform analysis to assess the design relative to its required performance, environments, and other design constraints, assist in the development of program specifications, coordinate motor performance predictions with mechanical and systems engineering disciplines, review and help develop test plans, support supplier and system level testing, coordinate and run weekly meetings with motor suppliers and present motor status at informal internal meetings as well as formal program meetings with LM and Customer leadership.

The SRM Propulsion Engineer will work with the SRM suppliers as required to satisfy program requirements and be responsible for working through all engineering, production and testing related concerns as they arise as the focus will be SRM production.

Tasks also include coordination with product design, interface development, other analysis functions, Materials, Production Operations, and other functions.

The engineer will also be required to support quick-turnaround urgent failure investigations, failure analysis and facilitate production deviation closures with meeting engineering requirements to meet mission objectives.

Additionally, the candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.

The candidate will also be interfacing and coordinating efforts with Structural Dynamics Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Thermal Engineers, Material & Process Engineers, Environments Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Laboratory Test Engineers, Production Operations, Subcontractor Management and other departments.

The candidate will also be participating in the propulsion performance analysis and design of various rocket motor assemblies and derive propulsion design requirements. Candidate will perform performance analysis using standardized analysis software tools and coordinate requirements and design solutions with program personnel.

This position requires moderate travel in support of program meetings and ground testing.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related field with at least 9 years of professional experience ( Aerospace industry preferred) in SRM propulsion or a Masters degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related field with at least 7 years of professional experience ( Aerospace industry preferred) in SRM propulsion.

Experience with Solid Rocket Motor propulsion and rocket motor analysis of either assembly, subsystems, or components.

Experience with Solid Rocket Motor manufacturing with an emphasis on propellant and grain formulations and batch mixing and testing.

Experience with Solid Rocket Motor suppliers and vendors while working hand in hand with program management and customers to deliver results.
Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.

Candidate must be able to travel in support of program meetings and ground testing
Desired Skills:
Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

MS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with at least 7 years of professional experience in SRM propulsion.

Experience with testing of either Solid rocket motor assemblies, sub-assemblies or components.

Experience with aerospace manufacturing methods and addressing non-conformances (MRB).

Experience performing propulsion and/or solid rocket motor performance analysis using classical methods.

Experience with Matlab, Simulink, LabVIEW, and NX.

Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills.

Must have strong analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for supporting the generation of propulsion analysis plans, and propulsion testing / analysis reports are necessary.
