Supplier Quality Engineers at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control act as an integrated member of the design, production and supply chain teams overseeing supplier implementation of manufacturing and performance requirements.

In a culture of continuous improvement, our department utilizes lean initiatives to reduce waste and drive affordability and efficiency. Working with an integrated team including customers, suppliers and other functional personnel, nonconformances are identified, trended and resolved in a timely manner.

As a vital member of the team, a Supplier Quality Engineer at Missiles and Fire Control evaluates the designs, both electrical and mechanical, to ensure a producible product is being proposed and the supply base has processes in place for a smooth production flow.

Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from a technical field with a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience.

Strong understanding of engineering requirements

Must be able to identify and document supplier's quality deficiencies and ensure effective corrective action

Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems

Understanding engineering drawings requirements mechanical and electrical inspection methods

Ability to focus on continual improvement practices using causal analysis tools to drive corrective and preventive actions

Must have knowledge and understanding of critical design attributes and auditing capabilities

This position will be located at a facility that requires special access and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen

Desired skills
Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Suppliers, Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Sub-contracts (Buyers) and Government Representatives

A basic understanding of the MFC SAP and P2P business systems

ASQ Certification or Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt/Black Belt)

Experience with working with suppliers in a dynamic environment

Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements

Experience with source inspection and surveillance activities at suppliers

Strong understanding in AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment, multi-task, meet deadlines

Strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports

Must be able to effectively communicate and interface with Quality Program Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality Management, Sub-contracts (Buyers) and Government Representatives

A basic understanding of special processes and an overall understanding of how to manage and interface with suppliers on a daily bases to support the Program
