Senior Engineer - Performance Analysis / Grand Prarie, TX
Lockheed Martin is seeking an engineer with Flight Performance Analysis / flight mechanics background who is coachable and willing to learn. Chosen candidate will perform analysis of missile and fire control system performance against tactical and flight test targets for air and missile defense system program using a complex 6-DOF (Degree of Freedom) simulation; general mathematical modeling for 6-DOF missile simulations; development and maintenance of data reduction and presentation tools; reduction of simulation data and development of presentations used in internal and customer briefings. Candidate should have working knowledge of higher order language, with FORTRAN and/or C programming experience a plus. Candidate must be organized, able to assimilate large amounts of data, be inquisitive and able to work through problems arising with simulation operation and data reduction.
Aerospace Engineering degree or equivalent.
Familiarity with flight performance prediction methods.
Working knowledge of a higher order computer programming language, such as FORTRAN, C++, or Matlab.
Understanding of standard coordinate systems used in flight vehicle performance analysis. Understanding of 3DOF and 6DOF flight simulations.
Candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with creating presentation-ready plots of performance data sets and communicating trade study results to other engineers and management. Excellent communications skills are required.
The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment is essential to success.
Candidates must possess a Secret or higher security clearance to be considered for this position.
Experience running missile simulations is a plus.
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop simulations is a plus.
FORTRAN or C++ fluency and current experience is desirable.
