Multi-Project Technical Leadership - Technology Development, Orlando, FL

Description:This is a multi-project technical leadership position within the Special Programs (SP) Line of Business.

The SP EO Systems Lead conceives, plans, advocates, and executes technology developments up to Technology Readiness Level 6, an effort that will permit the inclusion of cutting edge capabilities and performance for the next generation of Lockheed Martin products serving both established and emerging needs. The successful candidate will organize, lead and contribute technically in research and development proposal efforts including manpower and material estimation, schedule development, technical concept development, creation of proposal technical and cost volumes, and both leading and contributing technically to execute of programs resulting from these proposals. The SP work environment is highly agile and may require working requirements development on one project, managing cost accounts (CAM) on another, while assisting a small integration team on a third project, all in the same week. The SP EO Lead is expected to actively mentor less experienced engineers on these same projects while working seamlessly with Subject Matter Experts in many disciplines.

The SP EO Lead will interface regularly with SP leadership and with government research and development organizations to ensure relevant technologies enabling future LM products are advanced within aggressive schedules and budgets.

Special Access Program security approval is required (at a minimum this entails a current final Secret clearance with a background investigation completed within five years). Top Secret clearance is desirable.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience in system design, development, integration and test, including field/flight testing, for Technology Readiness levels through 6 is desired.

The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one technical field directly applicable to advanced EO system development such as image, signal or inertial processing algorithms, servo control, passive or active optical system design and analysis.

Expertise in multiple related fields is a plus.

Good interpersonal skills are required to build and lead small agile teams (typically 2 to 10 people) in dynamic developmental projects where technical risks are explored and overcome.
Desired Skills:
Good communication skills are highly desired. Candidate should be capable of:

giving convincing presentations,

demonstrating conclusively the value of a technological approach, and

providing appropriate justification for securing funding required to pursue technology development.
