Mechanic- Top Secret Clearance Required

•Work with the Customer’s Capabilities Development Directorate regarding vehicle fleet force modernization, providing subject matter expertise and analysis of current and emerging technologies, that will aid in the Military decision making process as it relates to the Research and Development of unique Government and Commercial Off-the-Shelf rolling stock items that will benefit the military customer’s capabilities

•Assist with development and implementation of new equipment fielding plans, maintenance and training sustainment plans, and life-cycle replacement plans for various types of standard and non-standard rolling stock, power generation, and vehicle modification and maintenance equipment

•Advise customer on physical characteristics and vehicle response dynamics when unconventional modifications are introduced to vehicles, in support of customer’s unique mission requirements

•Manage internal maintenance tracking system to reflect work scheduled, in-progress, and completed providing raw and compiled/processed data to the Customer for organizational level analysis and consultation to program directors as needed. Periodically represent the Customer’s maintenance detachment interests in monthly and weekly maintenance meetings with Customer leadership.

•Meet with Customer program managers regularly or as needed to support modernization/requirements based customization as they pertain to rolling stock items

•Perform routine and specialized maintenance/repair to military and civilian motor vehicles, motorcycles, and All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV).

•Provide vehicle maintenance support at CONUS or OCONUS locations for up to 90 days at a time as the Customer’s primary maintenance support interface. Duties will include budget planning, consultation to the Customer’s executive leadership on a daily basis, and acting with authority to execute the Customer’s maintenance program with limited to no supervision.

•Serve as customer representative, as required, providing subject matter expertise when interacting with commercial vendors, other supporting and supported government agencies, and community counterparts

•Perform refurbishment, modification, and other specialized maintenance actions as required

•Repair, rebuild, or overhaul major assemblies of internal combustion vehicles

•Serves as a Master Trainer on multiple levels to include motorcycle riding, maintenance training, licensing for buses and military vehicles as required/certified

•Diagnose sources of trouble in motor vehicles and provide corrective actions in high operational tempo environments where work must be completed on the spot

•Assist in preparing budgetary projections for maintenance, repair and organizational maintenance operations, monitor and assist with reconciliation with committed and obligated funding

•Rebuild carburetors, overhaul transmissions, and repair fuel injection, lighting and ignition systems

•Perform maintenance/repair to vehicle drive train and ancillary components

•Assist in the development of acquisition and disposition plans; perform trend analysis for various vehicle performance, maintenance program issues, and facility preparation/customization and related expenses

•Assist customer in performance of other support type functions such as: maintenance tracking, inventory and turn-in, publication and catalog support, tool and capital equipment maintenance, calibration control, cleaning, and organizational level maintenance

Basic Qualifications
Must have 10+ years experience in rolling stock requirements development, maintenance, and sustainment

Must have in-depth knowledge of the following systems:
-Diesel engine
-Gasoline engine
-Brake systems
-Steering and suspension
-Transmission and drivetrain
-Fabrication and modification

Must be proficient with:
-Power generation
-Electrical troubleshooting
-Maintenance and logistics management
-Microsoft Office

Desired skills
Experience with FOSOV equipment
Motorcycle familiarization
ASE certifications
