Electromechanical Technician / Energy Storage / Cambridge, MA

Lockheed Martin is developing a new product class of batteries, enabling significant energy utilization enhancements for both existing systems and renewables such as solar and wind.
This is a technical technician position to enable the testing and operation of pilot scale systems in support of this new battery technology. Duties will include the assembly of systems, modifications to existing testing structures (both electrical and mechanical), and trained operation of complex systems.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have hands-on capabilities in operation of complex systems, construction of test articles, piping, calibration, and computer-operated systems. A desire for learning is critical in this complex environment.
This position is located in Cambridge, MA, near the Alewife T Station, with access via train or automobile, and near multiple restaurants and stores.

Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks and 5 Years or more of experience is required.
-A keen interest in renewable energy technologies and a desired to learn more about the field is key to this role.
-Experienced hands-on operation of complex systems, especially electrochemical or electromechanical systems is required.
-Knowledge of plastic piping, simple wiring, and sensor calibration is required.
-Mechanical aptitude with respect to valves, pumps, and flow systems is required.
-Knowledge of basic electronics is required.
-The ability to use hand tools is required.
-The ability to use soldering irons, wire strippers, pump jacks/lift tables, voltmeter, ammeter, and with training: crane, fork, automated lift, UVvis, density meter, viscometer is required.
-Solid IT skills are required.
-Solid troubleshooting and repair capabilities are required.
-Basic mathematical skills are required.
-Solid communications skills are required.

Desired skills
-Associates degree or demonstrated mathematical or scientific capability is desired.
-Experience with NI, Python, VB, or SQL a plus.
-Experience operating pilot systems via control software is desired.
-Demonstrated ability to construct physical prototypes, within an area of expertise, with minimal input is desired.
-Prior experience working with piping and valves in an electrochemical setting is desired.
