Electrical Design and Construction Manager – Storage System Projects
Responsible for project assessment, site design drawings, cost and price buildup, and construction contractor/trades oversight of Lockheed Martin battery storage design and installation projects in building and substation environments. Responsible for planning and delivery of design and construction in alignment with project-specific schedules and contract parameters. Works with Lockheed Martin engineering and project teams, and with customer representatives, including project managers, construction managers, utility-led electrical teams, architects, subcontractors and trades in environments where battery storage solutions are integrated into existing building and substation environments. Reports to Program Management Office for all phases of design and construction activities. Primary interface with utility and commercial customer representatives for energy construction projects.
This Electrical Design and Construction Project Manager position is responsible for scoping projects which are electrical in nature, with structural, civil and mechanical considerations. Will have primary responsibility to perform site reviews, customer technical interface meetings, establish design parameters for the installation of commercial and utility-scale battery storage installations, estimate electrical, civil and structural costs-to-install, draft and stamp plans to at minimum 30% design, and lead design reviews for each phase of design. Will be responsible to identify utility and AHJ requirements for engineering, permitting and construction standards. Will be responsible for oversight of permitting, construction and installation of battery storage systems in accordance with design and local AHJ requirements.
Projects are primarily comprised of civil and electrical construction, electrical interconnection requirements, data systems for performance monitoring, and commissioning.
Electrical field engineering and design experience. Ability to design electrical and structural site plans to bid quality for fixed price construction. Experience working on-site in utility, commercial and industrial building environment with architects and owner's representatives. Problem resolution in logistics, scheduling, critical path operations. Experience with electrical systems, interconnection with utility and building electrical systems is required, as is experience with data monitoring and metering systems, which will be installed during the construction period, and used to monitor performance and establish validation reports. Experienced interaction with construction/project staff, site owners' representatives, engineer-of-record, LM subcontractors, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, delivery and rigging teams, and trades, for full design process, site preparation, battery project delivery, installation, and commissioning.
• 10-15 years in the electrical industry. Prefer field experience with development experience.
• Familiarity with EPC and design-build green energy and power generation projects (landfill, ocean thermal, anaerobic biogas, biomass pyrolysis (wood, MSW, RDF), solar, fuel cell, cogeneration, prime power and emergency systems
• Performed cost estimating, pro forma development, cost-benefit analysis, involvement in contract obligations
• Familiarity with Interconnection Service Agreements
• Experience in developing electrical specifications and ACAD drawings for construction of EPC and design-build generation projects
o Single Line, Three Line, Plan Views, Elementary & Interconnection drawings
• Electrical Construction Management
o Contractor selection, subcontractor agreements, site reviews, NEC compliance
• Electrical and I&C startup and commissioning experience
o QA/QC documents, test protocols and checklists, troubleshooting
Single Line, Three Line, Plan Views, Elementary & Interconnection drawings; NEC compliance. PE, CEM, and other relevant professional certifications. MS Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word. MS Project and/or Primavera P6 helpful.
