Component Engineering Associate Manager / Aerospace / Chelmsford, MA

Lockheed Martin is seeking to hire an electrical engineering manager at our campus in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The electrical engineering manager will lead a team a diverse team of engineers to complete tasks that may involve component engineering, reliability engineering, printed wiring board design. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all designs meet the highest reliability requirements as well as the product life cycle requirements.

The engineering manager will be responsible for staffing engineering projects with the appropriate electrical engineering skills, balancing competing project priorities, ensuring a rigorous engineering process is followed and leading talent development. The engineering will lead the hiring of additional engineers as required. The engineering manager will enact strategies to continuously improve our processes, tools and skillsets. The engineer will work on unusually complex problems, leading failure investigations and establishing screening requirements. The engineer will implement strategies to mitigate the risks associated with pure tin finishes. The engineer will ensure Product Change Notices (PCNs) and Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts are reviewed for impacts on our products. The engineer will be responsible for qualifying COTs electronic components for high reliability military use. The engineer will generate formal reports and present them to the military customer. The engineer will monitor existing designs for obsolescence and develop strategies to mitigate the obsolescence. The engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciplines to include hardware engineers, systems engineers, and circuit design engineers as well as technicians and manufacturing support personnel.

The Locale:
Chelmsford is a charming suburb of Boston located about 25 miles northwest of that city. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire's White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.
It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.

Basic Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline
-Experience leading engineering teams.
-Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging.
-Demonstrated knowledge of high reliability Military component standards and specifications such as MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-38534, MIL-PRF-55342, MIL-PRF-55681.
-Demonstrated knowledge of Automotive Electronics Quality Standards such as AEC-Q100, AEC-Q101, AEC-Q200.
-Demonstrated experience creating Source Control Drawings (SCD), Altered Item Drawings (AID), and Vendor Item Drawings (VID).
-Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
-Candidate must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance and have at least an interim secret prior to start.

Desired skills
-MS in Electrical Engineering
-Experience with Printed Wiring Board Design
-Experience with High Reliability (Military, Aerospace, Medical) Printed Wiring Board (PWB/PCB) Manufacturing
-Experience with High Reliability Surface Mount Technology (SMT) circuit card assembly.
-Experience with Experience performing system reliability calculations.
-Experience with schematic capture programs ie. Cadence Capture.
-Experience with SAP, Microsoft Access, Oracle, or similar database systems.
-Experience with component thermal analysis.
-Experience with component database services such as QSTAR and Silicon Expert.
-Demonstrated attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to multitask; good organizational skills, computer literacy, and demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment.
