Analytical Chemist / Cambridge, MA
Lockheed Martin Energy Storage is commercializing a new flow battery technology for low-cost, grid-scale energy storage to support renewable energy integration and grid modernization. The flow battery is based on a novel battery chemistry comprising aqueous metal-ligand coordination compounds. We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to assist in the characterization, development, and commercialization of the novel battery chemistry. The successful candidate will bring a deep technical understanding of physical methods for characterization of organic and inorganic molecules, along with experience in analytical method development and quality control testing. Experience with gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry (GC-MS; LC-MS), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) are highly desired. The individual must be flexible, able to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in effectively directing junior team members is expected. A doctoral degree in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, or inorganic chemistry is required; industry experience (5+ years) preferred.

Cape Cod is less than 90 minutes to the southeast. The White Mountains of New Hampshire are 2.5 hours to the north. Providence, RI is about 2 hours to the southwest. Montreal is about 5 hours to the northwest.
• Doctorate in the fields of analytical, inorganic, or physical chemistry
• In-depth knowledge of physical methods for characterization of organic and inorganic molecules
• Experience with analytical method development and quality control testing
• Experience in effectively directing junior team members and communicating with management
• Experience (5+ years) in an industrial chemical development or analytical environment
• Experience with gas chromatography (GC), mass spectrometry (GC-MS; LC-MS), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES)
