Aircraft Painter

The Aircraft Painter Perform all duties associated with the treatment, preparation, and coating of wood, metal, glass, synthetic, or other surfaces. Performs all preparatory work (obtains supplies and equipment, sets up ladders and scaffolds, covers items with drop cloths and tape). Prepares surfaces by mechanical means, i.e. scraping, wire brushing, masking and sanding surfaces. Cleans, degreases, and removes oil or wax buildup so that coating materials will adhere properly. Cleans, degreases, and removes all oil and wax buildup. Removes scale, dirt and old paint from surfaces so that coating materials will adhere properly. Mixes, thins, blends, matches, tints, and tones coating materials following specific oral and written directives and specifications. Applies coating materials such as primers and paints using standard application techniques and ensures that the coating finish meets surface protection requirements. Performs fluid flushing and air vacuum cleaning of aircraft fuel tanks. Removes fuel tank braces for access to hard to reach areas. Removes anti-leak sealant and polyurethane paint material from fuel tank inner surfaces. Assists other mechanics with cleaning of aircraft parts using solvents and other cleaning solutions.

Basic Qualifications
Lockheed Martin is seeking aircraft painters to perform aircraft painting, must have a minimum of 2 years aircraft painting experience, must be familiar with and follow OSHA,EPA and AFOSH regulations. Job will require entry into confined spaces. Must be able to work with a respirator. Will be required to use maintenance stands, ladders and scaffolding.

Desired skills
Must have technical knowledge of preparing, priming, painting and marking aircraft with a minimum of two (2) years direct applicable or equivalent experience.
