U-2 Deputy Chief Engineer//Advanced Programs
Description: This position reports directly to the U-2 Chief Engineer and is responsible for supporting the U-2 Chief Engineer in providing technical leadership and ensuring the technical integrity of the U-2 program. This includes all aspects of the U-2 program and ensures all Airworthiness and Operational Suitability requirements are defined and met. Additionally, this position will assist the U-2 Chief Engineer in the following areas: Act as the primary interface to the customer Chief Engineer and customer engineering organization, be responsible for the technical elements of SOWs, proposals, and other deliverables, and oversee all U-2 engineering activities, including concept formulation, preliminary design, detailed design, system modification, software development, and system test including flight test. This position will also assist the U-2 Chief Engineer in the management of day-to-day operation of the U-2 engineering organization.
The U-2 Deputy Chief Engineer is responsible for the leadership of U-2 development programs, and ensures all U-2 contracts are properly staffed with engineers. Additionally, the U-2 Deputy Chief Engineer will direct the execution of U-2 system engineering processes, conduct risk management, and ensure system safety across all U-2 modifications and activities.
The U-2 Deputy Chief Engineer will also provide coordination/integration between the U-2 Chief Engineer and functions responsible for planning and forecasting necessary staffing and other resources (processes, tools, capital facilities, training, etc.) to fulfill contractual obligations; notifying the functions of major program milestone reviews, and coordinating discipline-specific technical consultations as required.
Must be a US Citizen as this position is located at a facility that requires special access. Selected applicant must have as a minimum a Interim Secret Security Clearance and be able to obtain a Full Active Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills: Chief Engineer or Deputy Chief Engineer experience.
Background in Mission Systems, Air Vehicle Systems, or other aircraft development competencies.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with other LM Aero LOBs.
Knowledge of ADP processes as well as site-specific advanced systems and technology & product innovation projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and deliver professional level presentations.
Bachelors or above degree in an engineering/technical discipline.
Experience with a Technical background in aircraft/technology development
Experience with systems engineering processes.
Experience as a technical lead and/or project manager.
