Thermal Analysis - Structural

Description: The qualified candidate will be responsible to thermodynamically characterize advanced aircraft and subsystems. The position requires a broad knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer, with ability to analyze any and all potential technical challenges encountered on advanced weapon systems including aircraft structural heat transfer, bay ventilation, aerodynamic heating, thermal and heat transfer methods development, and test planning/execution/analysis model validation. The engineer must be able to perform all technical work in a self-contained environment under tight deadlines, using analysis models ranging from simple first-order energy balances to highly complex models of entire aircraft. The qualified candidate will be required to interface with and make frequent design review presentations with company, US government, and associated supplier management and engineers, and to manage budget and schedule.
Desired Skills: --Experience in aircraft design; particular emphasis is placed on demonstrated ability to thermodynamically model and analyze aircraft structure.
--Experience with finite difference/finite element software in modeling aircraft structure.
--Participation in testing of an aircraft structure or similar.
--Good communications skills both oral and written.
--Experience in aircraft design
--Engineer must possess a detailed knowledge of one or more of the following software packages: MATLAB/SIMULINK, NPSS, SINDA, PATRAN, FEMAP, Thermal Desktop, or IDEAS.
-- Applicant must be proficient in programming at least one of the following languages: C/C++, FORTRAN, MATLAB, or Visual Basic.
