This position is specifically for a Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability (RMT) engineer with expertise in developing and optimizing reliability and maintainability approaches for avionic system of systems, systems, subsystems, and components.
Specific responsibilities include:
-Influencing the complete life cycle; CONOPs, design, development, verification test, and sustainment based on program requirements by resolving RMT technical issues using analysis, data, industry practices, and academic research
-Evaluating impact of environmental and operational factors directly related to RMT approach, analysis, and testing
-Performing trade studies to optimize RMT performance, and life cycle cost
-Performing Reliability and Maintainability predictions
-Implementing Failure Reporting And Corrective Actions Systems (FRACAS) process and interpreting statistical data derived from failure data to determine root cause and corrective actions to eliminate failure modes
-Integration of RMT with sustainment programs (i.e Performance Based Logistics)
-Allocating and documenting RMT requirements and analysis including the application of reliability predictions, and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), and maintainability predictions including Fault detection and isolation on avionic and electrical systems.
-Planning and performing reliability testing and utilize reliability growth models as part of an overall reliability program
-Conducting design analysis, system modeling, testing, applying system engineering principles with emphasis on RMT, systems diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
The Locale: Owego, New York is located about 200 miles northwest of New York City and about 75 miles south of Syracuse New York. Owego sits just north of the border with Pennsylvania and is part of what's known as the "Southern Tier" section of New York State. The region is home to Binghamton University and Cornell University. Niagara Falls, NYC, & Philadelphia are all within a few hours' drive from Owego. Rolling hillsides, historic homes, quaint country shops, riverside restaurants, fabulous festivals and a beautiful river make this region a great place to live.
-Requires an engineering degree in Electrical, Computer, Industrial, or Systems engineering or math/physics.
-Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
-Familiar with Reliability and Maintainability principles and practices
-Familiar with reliability and maintainability calculations in accordance with industry standards (MIL-HDBK-217, Bellcore/Telecordia, MIL-HDBK-472, etc...)
-Familiar with FRACAS
-Familiar with R&M test including Environmental Stress Screen (ESS), Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT), Initial Built in Test (BIT), Life testing, etc.
-Familiar with system level diagnostics such as Initial Built In Test (IBIT) Assessment and Maintainability Demonstrations
-Familiar with requirements development, system design, problem analysis and resolution, and integration and test.
-Must possess excellent communication skills for customer presentations and can work in a team environment as part of a multi-disciplined team effort involving many companies and customers
-Proficient with Microsoft office suite, including, Excel, Access, or other databases
-Knowledge of product test, environmental or reliability testing or manufacturing engineering.
-Knowledge in Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), root cause failure analysis, and data analytics.
-Knowledge in Reliability and Maintainability principles and practices
-Experience in customer interfacing
-Experience with a diversity of complex electrical and avionic systems
-Application overall systems engineering efforts
-Experience with software intensive systems
-Experience with probability, statistics, mathematical
-Familiar with SW tools/languages, such as: LabVIEW, Perl, C+, XML, C++, and Java
