Supplier Quality Engineer (FAI, AS9102)

SQM plays a vital role within the Quality & Mission Success (Q&MS) organization by ensuring compliant and defect free product & services are available for all of LM Aero's programs.

This position is for a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) that will concentrate on the thorough and rigorous creation, implementation and validation of supplier First Article Inspections (FAIs) per LM Aero's AS9102 based requirements. The FAIs validate that the Seller's product realization processes are capable of producing parts and assemblies that meet all engineering and design requirements, as well as providing objective evidence that the supplier processes can produce compliant product and the supplier understands and has incorporated all product requirements.

The roles and responsibilities of the selected SQE are:

• Evaluate LM Aero's engineering drawings, material & process specifications, tooling and other related purchasing requirements to determine and document what needs to be a part of a thorough and rigorous supplier FAI package through direct review and coordination with the necessary disciplines.

• Coordinate and partner with LM Aero SQEs in the field and the suppliers to implement a project plan for the life cycle of the FAI beginning with the supplier's internal FAI activities, including the supplier manufacturing and inspection plans, determining LM Aero touch / hold points based on part criticality and supplier risks and concluding with LM Aero's validation that the supplier has successfully met the FAI exit criteria.
Desired Skills: • Familiarity with the manufacturing and inspection techniques for one or more of the following types of parts: metallic machined or formed, composite laminate or bonded assemblies, electronic components, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Familiarity with Tooling concepts and their use in the manufacturing and inspection of product
• Work related experience with planning and executing AS9102 FAI based requirements
• Understanding and experience with AS9100 based Quality Management System (QMS)
• Experience maintaining productive relationships and interactions with Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Customers (DCMA, FAA, SPO, JPO, ...) and external Suppliers.
• Experience with FAI software such as DISCUS and NET-Inspect software
• Experience in performing the SQE roles and responsibilities of supplier oversight and product acceptance
• Understanding and experience with AS9145 Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
• Experience maintaining productive external Customer relationships (DCMA, FAA, etc.)
• Experience with corrective action databases such as LM Aero's Integrated Corrective Action (ICA) system.
• Experience working in a Culture of Accountability®
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field or equivalent direct work experience
• Ability to understand and interpret 2D & 3D blueprint / data packages including GD&T requirements, material and process specifications and engineering schematics
• Familiarity with the manufacturing and inspection techniques for one or more of the following types of parts: metallic machined or formed, composite laminate or bonded assemblies, electronic components, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Familiarity with Tooling concepts and their use in the manufacturing and inspection of product
• Work related experience with planning and executing AS9102 FAI based requirements
• Willingness for situational travel typically six to ten times annually for up to a week at a time
