Software Engineer - Metrics Development and Coordination
Description: Responsibilities include supporting program execution of the advanced F35 pilot training and mission rehearsal simulator. Successful candidate will be responsible for engineering and building a centralized solution for capturing, archiving and creation of the presentation/analysis for key program performance measures and artifacts. Candidate will be key to ensuring that necessary engineering and program performance data is available to all program and functional stakeholders. Engineering solution will centralize a number of source systems and data sources in a common and responsive infrastructure. Job will challenge candidate's design skills and ability to organize and manage large, inter-related data sets over time. Customers will include F-35 Program Office, LM Aero and the Joint Program Office (JPO), and TLS line of business engineering leadership. Support includes: leaning the measurement process, participating in peer reviews for changes to the command media that are to expand the support of high maturity practices, review and provide feedback on Program Management Plan Templates, provide historical data for baselines and model calibration, and provide Common Process representation at program reporting reviews, and assisting with site/business area repositories and Change Control Boards (CCB). Lead and participate in efforts that: 1) address concerns and improvements with the standardized measure definitions, 2) generate process improvement updates to command media, 3) address concerns and improvements with the standardized measurement training materials, and 4) ensure that both the organization and programs' measurement plans meet the intent of capability models. Continue to support the functional organizations, generating queries and data collection scripts and performing data validation for measures. Support measurement activities for instantiating Line of Business programs set up in standard reporting tool. Generate automated data collection and reporting methods to reduce turnaround time and human error. Provide specialized support to develop program management specific tools that allow insight into how the program and products are performing.
Desired Skills: Minimum 8 yrs of experience in metrics and SW reporting. Highly proficient in Excel, proven ability to turn data into actionable information. Visual Basic experience for automation and Tableau reporting tool experience a plus. Experience in development and utilization of operational metrics is desired.
Position requires database experience including VBA, SQL, MS Access and advanced MS Excel programing skills. Previous experience developing metrics database applications needed as well. A committed self-starter that is attentive to details, works well in a multi-disciplined teaming environment, and is able to Embrace Change and thrive in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to shifting priorities.
