Senior IT Systems Administrator MS SQL Server 2016 / VMware

Description:This position will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Dam Neck Activity (DNA) located at the Dam Neck Annex of Naval Station Oceana. The selected candidate will perform duties of a Database System Administrator and server system administrator, within the Command Network Operations Group under the Activity Chief Information Officer's office at Dam Neck Activity, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Consult with the ACIO, Network Operations Branch Head, Command Network Manager, Network Security Officers, Government and Contractor personnel to manage and sustain the database environments. Additional duties include participation in and documentation of configuration control board meetings, development and update of database certification and accreditation package, and assist in the design of the upgrade to the existing database systems located at Dam Neck Activity. While this position will be part of a larger team, it is intended to be the database subject matter expert for the team. As such, candidates need to have the basic qualifications described below. The position is not meant to be 100% database administration support. The expectation is a 60/40 split between database administration and server system administration.
Basic Qualifications:
Extensive experience with database administration of MS SQL Server 2016 in an on premises and/or cloud based environment.
Extensive experience with hardening of MS SQL Server in accordance with DISA Security Implementation Guides and industry best practices.
Experience in Troubleshooting and fine-tuning MS SQL for performance and reliability issues as they arise.
Experience with administration of Active Directory including Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
Experience with administration of Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016 and/or 2019
Desired Skills:
Development and implementation of Inventory control process.
Cloud based deployment of database environments
* Supporting a VMWARE environment
