Description:The Studies and Analysis, Principal is responsible for evaluating and forecasting long term customer needs, the future of warfare, current and future technology advances, and how weapon systems relying on these new technologies can be integrated to achieve desired effects. Development of this analysis is predicated on a deep understanding of warfighting doctrine, National Defense policy, and Government regulations and policies. Working with LM's Corporate and Technology Office (CETO), LM Government Affairs (LMGA), and its Business Areas (BA), this position's task will be to recommend warfighting , solutions and business arrangements that prioritize and optimize BA led pursuits and influence customer thinking. The position is also responsible for directing the activities of analysts supporting the Studies and Analysis group. The position will work under the direction of the Vice President and the Director of LM Studies and Analysis.

Key activities in support of objectives above are:
Assess geopolitical, macroeconomic, and national security trends
Develop projections for policies, budgets, force structures, innovations, and operational
Develop studies on future of warfare based in trends and dynamics
Understanding of LM business impact of proposed and systems
Leverage external analyses (think tanks, consultancies) and develop LM-specific implications Prioritize capabilities (e.g., business models, procurement process, -competitiveness, sustainment) based on understanding of customer needs and critical domains for future warfare
Partner with DoD and provide analytics support
Leverage POV of customer needs and future of warfare to write white papers, etc., to shape policy

In concert with LMGA, produce content to support for advocacy of LM products, reinforcing their value to the future of warfighting and -effectiveness

Writing samples will be required as part of the application process. You will be requested to submit one writing sample (such as a published paper, thesis, etc.) directly to the recruiter once you formally apply. Additional writing samples (no more than 3) will be requested for those selected for an interview.
Basic Qualifications:
Masters Degree, preferably in a policy discipline, systems or operations research
15+ years of experience in the national security issues and/or defense policy
Demonstrated analytical thinking/writing skills, including informed advocacy and thought leadership
Strong quantitative analysis capabilities
Viewed as a senior authority in discipline
Top Secret security clearance or eligibility for same.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with Lockheed Martin platforms and programs, including enterprise / peer heritage
Experience with operational analysis and military force employment
Familiarity and/or experience with Think Tank or objective government analysis communities
Familiarity of state-of-the-art and evolving technologies supporting Nations Security systems
Understanding of DoD R&D and procurement processes, as well as business model applications
Understanding of USG / National Security budget and appropriations process and influencing
