Optical Payloads Intern

Description:Lockheed Martin Optical Payload Center of Excellence is seeking candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in Systems, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics to participate in an internship assignment. This person will be responsible for working in a multi-disciplinary team focused on electro-optical (EO) payloads for aerospace applications. The candidate will be supporting experienced engineers in the disciplines of Systems, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of EO payloads and will be exposed to multiple areas of technical expertise to provide discriminative capabilities in the area of EO sensing.
Basic Qualifications:
Actively enrolled in an Engineering or Physics Degree program from an accredited college/university.

This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills:
Seeking student completing Junior year (Undergraduate). Completed basic college course work in optical engineering (e.g. lens design), mechanical engineering (including basic design, analysis, tolerance), laser design (potentially embedded in an advance physics or electrical engineering program) or electrical engineering (with a focus on sensor technology). Laboratory physics course work or experience related to electro-optical systems. Hardware experience building electro-optical system (autonomous vehicle sensor project, ground based telescope build and operation) or image processing experience (e.g. computer vision project, autonomous vehicle image processing project). Solid understanding of EO lab and test equipment. Commitment to collaborative technology development. Excellent communication skills.
