Description:The selected candidate will support Mechanical Engineering tasks for Launchers & Weapons programs in Moorestown NJ. The candidate will support more senior subject matter experts and drive both the heritage launcher program, and also the next generation of launcher and weapon systems.
Mechanical engineer will work as part of an engineering team to develop mechanical solutions to a variety of problems including structural design, fluid flow, environmental survivability of structures and electronic modules and analysis (structural, shock, vibration, non-linear and composite material analysis). Mechanical design tasks may involve creating new designs or modifications to existing designs on a variety of naval, launching systems, and missile systems projects. Analysis tasks may include, but not be limited to performing finite element and classical stress analysis of various components and assemblies across multiple naval and other platforms; performing preliminary and final analyses, part sizing, fatigue/fracture assessment, drawing coordination and sign-off, test support and correlation, analysis presentations, and documentation of analyses for deliverable stress and fracture reports; and performing analysis of discrepant hardware, components, or assemblies during on-going assembly and integration activities. The individual will be expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers as well as representatives from Manufacturing, Quality, Drafting and other engineering disciplines. Knowledge of computer design and analysis tools, especially PRO/E, CREO, NASTRAN and ANSYS and experience working in a design for manufacturing environment are desirable.
Basic Qualifications:
Skills in Engineering (i.e. Mechanical, Electrical or electronics, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering). Coursework in Math and Physics or other physical sciences.
Desired Skills:
An advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical field may be desired for this position
DOD and/or US Navy Development Experience
Launcher and Weapon System Experience
Working experience with PRO/E, CREO, NASTRAN and/or ANSYS applications.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Familiarity with standard Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated design and small project execution experience.
