The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program within LM Space provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). Key elements of the program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.

We are seeking an Associate level Material & Process Engineer to analyze, research materials and their related application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems of a cleanroom processing facility.

Summary of Key Duties for this position:
• Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
• Develops, analyzes and applies material properties, processing processes and engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
• May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
• Establish contamination control and facility requirements, develop and execute test plans, coordinate with other disciplines, external customers, and troubleshoot anomalies.
• Responsible for maintenance and operation of Cleanroom Systems, including contamination sensors and associated support equipment.
• Monitor controls for maintaining facility cleanliness/performance.
• Implement detailed Contamination Control Plan, Material Control Plans, and Certification Reports.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
• Knowledge of analytical laboratory equipment or techniques that apply to specialized contamination monitoring equipment and tools.
• Ability to multi-task and communicate status to teammates as well as customers.
Desired Skills:
BS degree in Chemistry, Materials, or Engineering with a related specialization. Knowledge of IEST-STD-CC1246, ISO-14644 and ASTM E 1548. Experience in procedure review and development. Good understanding of chemicals (acids, bases, oxidizers, flammables, reducers, water-reactives) in a variety of forms (liquids, solids, gases, sludges, slurries) and related incompatibilities to prevent undesirable chemical reactions.
