Material and Process Engineer Staff- Composites

Description: Apply Composite Material Engineering Principles to enable manufacturing (and/or research and development) of composite parts including fiber reinforced organic matrix materials and fabrication processes (Resin Transfer Molding (RTM), Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), traditional hand lay-up) and associated processes. Materials and Process (M&P) tasks include: 1)interface with supplier vendor base technical issues concerning (raw composite materials, parts fabrication, new materials/processes, and/or review of manufacturing plans; 2) Develop and implement composite research/qualification plans; 3) process development; technical presentations; proper selection of materials and processes ensuring attainment of design objectives; 4) participate in non-conformance disposition and Corrective Action processes; 5) participate in structural lay-outs and design reviews; and/or 6)authoring/maintaining/updating composite specifications.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations to senior management and external customers.
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Chemistry highly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication / interpersonal skills.
Project management skills.
Experience overseeing material suppliers.
Ability to interact with engineering disciplines to derive and decompose requirements.
Experience with process specifications and material characterization techniques.
Experience with Automated Fiber Placement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years experience working with composite materials, processes, fabrication and manufacturing methods, test and inspection processes.
Professional experience implementing new processes, documenting processes, and training team members in a manufacturing environment.
Experience interacting with different engineering disciplines to determine requirements.
Experience delivering customer presentations.
