What does this role look like?

This position is a full-time expatriate position which will be temporarily located in Kaustinen, Finland (beginning Summer-Fall 2020) to manage the cost, schedule, and technical performance of a critical subcontractor on an international commercial production effort for Mobile Telecommunication Equipment, to include terminals, fixed and mobile tracking antennas, and related accessories such as handsets, batteries, etc. This position is co-located onsite with the subcontractor in Finland and is subject to extension if required or approved by the customer. The expected tenure of this role is 1 year.

The successful candidate will have a track record of early identification of supplier risk items, working with supplier leadership to develop a risk mitigation plan, and delivering a successful outcome. The selected individual will be a self-starter that can utilize independent judgement to achieve production objectives and ensure on time delivery of supplier hardware. This position will require regular travel between Finland, Japan, India, and the United States.

Accepting this assignment does not result in a guarantee of future assignments upon completion. The employee will be responsible for identifying a new job assignment upon completion.

Qualified candidates will possess production operations skills, experiences, and/or backgrounds. In this role you will be the sole decision authority to the subcontractor to meet production requirements.

This role will offer you the following daily challenges:

You need to be familiar with electronics component(s) manufacturing with a demonstrated ability to learn this product family inside out; you cannot manage a production line / factory without fully understanding the product (mobile / cellular LTE telecom). Safety, factory health, inventory, modern production strategies (JIT, Six Sigma, 5S/6S, Lean, etc.), production ergonomics, material handling systems, machine-operator interfaces, hand tools, maintenance - you know more than a thing or two about all of these, or can get there faster than Jimmy John's can deliver. You are responsible to actively manage this critical subcontractor and their lower-tier suppliers and/or subcontractors to meet or exceed all production quantity and quality requirements, end of story.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment.
• Ability to relocate to Finland (Kaustinen) with occasional travel to India and the United States.
• Extensive Production and/or Manufacturing Operations Experience.
• Significant technical background in the telecommunications industry.
• Significant demonstrated project and supplier management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to be accountable, reliable, and responsible for all aspects of an operation or project at a remote site, serving as the site liaison between the company and the customer.
• Possess excellent English communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management.

To be successful, ideally, you should also have:
• Demonstrated ability to manage the activities of a cross functional team(s) to ensure completion of tasks on time.
• Ability to obtain, review, and communicate status with customers and management team(s).
• Ability to maintain strong customer relationship(s) to avoid escalations.
• Ability to drive effective meetings and resolve issues and escalation timely to avoid delays in project completion
• Demonstrated ability to break down objectives into discrete tasks in the context of launching a new program or order.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills beyond any reasonable doubt.
• Substantial background with 3GPP / LTE networks.
