Laser Test Engineer

The Laser Test Engineer will work in between both development and production. The engineer will perform functions to design, develop, and optimize fabrication & test processes for optical systems that include fiber lasers, Optical parametric oscillators (OPO's), semiconductor lasers, diode pumped solid state lasers, fiber-laser-based lasers etc. The engineer will evaluate potential new fabrication and production test equipment for effectiveness and relevance. The engineer will actively participate in engineering design reviews, first article build reviews, review of assembly and test defect data, answer Corrective Action Requests, etc. to assure technical objectives are met. The engineer will also drive continuous process improvement through utilization of Lean/Six Sigma techniques.
Must be comfortable within a rapid development environment; able to execute within short timelines and a given budget. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, good organizational skills, computer literacy, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment.
The Locale: Bothell is a city located in the state of Washington in the Pacific Northwest. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. This exciting work will include supporting the development of fiber laser systems that are field deployable in military and commercial environments.
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills: Have the ability to drive root cause analysis, early engagement with design, making recommendations for producibility. Demonstrated ability to operate test equipment and optic systems. Demonstrated ability to work both in both a development and production environment.
Experience in laser / optical manufacturing processes. Familiarity with fiber handling, fiber optic splicing, and optical manufacturing systems. Strong organization skills are required. Strong verbal & written communications skills are required. Ability to work both in a development and production environment.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
