Laser Manufacturing Engineer

This position will provide manufacturing engineering support for development and production activity at Bothell and gives guidance to other LM sites. This exciting work will include supporting the transition of fiber laser systems that are field deployable in military environments to production. Coordinates manufacturing readiness assessments during the product life cycle. Develops the work instructions and procedures to produce a cost effective, quality product. The engineer will evaluate potential new fabrication and production equipment for effectiveness and relevance. The engineer will actively participate in engineering design reviews, first article build reviews, review of assembly and test defect data, answer Corrective Action Requests, etc. to assure technical objectives are met. The engineer will also drive continuous process improvement through utilization of Lean/Six Sigma techniques, current Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification preferred.
Must be comfortable within a rapid development environment; able to execute within short timelines and a given budget. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, good organizational skills, computer literacy, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment.

The Locale: Bothell is a city located in the state of Washington in the Pacific Northwest. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area.
Desired Skills: Has the ability to drive root cause analysis, early engagement with design, making recommendations for producibility. Demonstrated ability to run structured improvement activities, apply lean techniques and drive continuous improvement. Experienced Manufacturing Engineer with experience in laser / optical manufacturing processes. Familiarity with fiber handling, fiber optic splicing, and optical manufacturing systems. Demonstrated ability to work both in both a development and production environment.
Experienced Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, process improvement and strategic planning. Experience with complex systems or products and knowledge of industry trends. Strong organization skills are required. Strong verbal & written communications skills are required. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
