Inspector - Composites

Description: Determines method and sequence and inspects all types of prototype/production plastic composite and/or combination metal-plastic parts and assemblies for workmanship and conformance with applicable engineering drawings, specifications, and other authorized documents, using various types of precision measuring devices by setting up such instruments to make such inspections; visually inspect parts for delaminations, unbonds, porosity, cracks and other defects; inspects in-process and completed parts and assemblies for dimensional, accuracy, proper bagging scheme, ply-orientation, layup, autoclave/oven curing operations, test panel/tag end preparation, and proper use and application of perishable productive material used in the fabrication of plastic and/or composite parts and assemblies; verifies that required environmental and process controls are being used and conform to applicable specifications or criteria.

Inspects pressure and functional testing of parts and assemblies that require same.

Inspects job loading, framing, skinning, riveting, cementing and mating of subassemblies and assembly for conformance with applicable specifications. Inspects plastic parts and assemblies made from uninspected tooling as required.

Inspects the incorporation of design and modification changes on parts and assemblies described herein.

Verifies that engineering tests are made on first article parts when same are fabricated to Lockheed material specifications.

Stamps or otherwise approves acceptable items; rejects unacceptable items and initiates documentation for disposition of same; determines and indicates rework required in cases where rework will bring the item into conformance with specifications.
Desired Skills: Familiarity with LM Aero Quality Systems

Experience with Microsoft Suite.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge or have completed training in the use and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.

Must have two years experience working with Composites or one year experience working with Composites and have successfully completed Composites I and II.

Must have a working knowledge of or have completed training in Inspection Principles, reading and understanding of temperature, humidity, and pressure charts, and the use of standard measuring instruments.

Must be able to perform basic computer operations.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of or have successfully completed training in Blueprint Reading II, and Inspection Principles.

Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications required by the company, customer or law.

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Standing: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.
Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.
Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.
Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 20 lbs.
Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.
Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed. Able to use computer keyboard, mouse and monitor for extended periods of time.
Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions.
Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed.
Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift.
Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate as required. Able to work around heavy equipment or machinery.
