Fighter Aircraft System Safety Engineer Staff (Level 4)

Description:Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics company as a System Safety Engineer Staff on our Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team! This position will support System Safety Engineering efforts for the F-16 military fighter aircraft program at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The candidate will support System Safety Program Plan execution.

Responsibilities include:

• Position requires performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Typical System Safety Analyses performed include Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and others.

• Perform qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards.

• This position requires interface and coordination of system safety activities with U.S. Government (USG) engineering design teams, suppliers, internal management and our USG customers.

• Candidate will be embedded with a safety team and will focus on cockpit related issues, identifying safety trends and then coordinating selected issues through entire safety mitigation process.

• Good communication skills are required as are the abilities to work independently and be self motivated.

• Candidate must be a United States citizen and be able to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
The following Basic Qualification are the skills that you must possess to be considered for this position:

• Candidate must possess or be enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in an engineering, science or mathematics related discipline

• Flight crew experience in a military or commercial aircraft

• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
The following Desired Skills are not required, but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the others:

• Military fighter pilot experience, F-16 pilot experience is preferred

• Knowledge of Pilot Interface systems such as cockpit displays, controls and related systems including life support and escape systems.

• Previous military aircraft program management experience

• Experience working with international customers and suppliers

• Experience with System Safety Analysis techniques such as Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and others.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills

• Demonstrated ability to deal with highly complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships

• Experience with aeronautical system design

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
