The Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) Ground Support Equipment team is seeking highly qualified applicants for a position as a JSF Support Equipment (SE) Ground Support Mechanic, at Edwards AFB, California;
The incumbent performs assembly, installation, maintenance, and repairs on program provided ground support equipment. Locates and diagnoses failures, replaces defective components, and performs basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment, detailed drawings, diagrams, sketches, specifications, prints, manuals, and verbal and/or written instructions.
Successful candidate will be responsible for the upkeep of both F-35 ground support equipment, as well as tool room based support equipment. May be required to perform occasional nonstandard maintenance on equipment based on nature of maintenance need. Maintains appropriate maintenance, inventory, and repair logs. Uses a variety of hand, power, and test equipment. Frequently enters data into the Logistics Management System to document any maintenance action performed on equipment.
Candidate will be required to conduct familiarization of equipment theory and operation to new employees in the same job position, or to the customer during day to day operations. May require infrequent travel to other F-35 locations to participate in equipment training classes, and in support of short-term regional deployments in support of customer flight test ops.
Local customer operations at Edwards AFB will require successful candidate to participate in short term customer support assignments at off-site locations that may include work onboard US Naval vessels in support of operational test requirements.
Must be able to operate in a constantly evolving maintenance environment.
Shop operates on a rotating shift schedule, where employees rotate between dayshift, swingshift, and midshift on a schedule set by shop leadership. Successful candidate must be willing to operate on any required shift based on shop / customer needs.
Desired Skills: Prior military flightline maintenance experience in AGE / GSE sustainment preferred.
Experience managing Ground Support Equipment shop, including personnel scheduling, equipment management, supplies ordering.
Keen ability to be a self-starter
Support Equipment data management experience;
Familiarity with DoD maintenance manuals;
Experience with military standard maintenance practices
Strong personal work ethic and maintenance quality mindset.
Minimum 4 years experience with AGE / GSE equipment maintenance with USAF, USMC, or USN
Excellent communication skills
Ability to frequently lift equipment over 50lbs
Ability to acquire and maintain a local flightline drivers certification
Proficient using MS Office Software including; Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook; Highly computer literate
Experience using engineering drawings and technical data.
Capable of working in hazardous flightline environment
Knowledge of industrial and aircraft maintenance safety standards
Candidate must be willing and able to support a rotating shift schedule
Candidate must have the ability to obtain, at minimum, an interim secret clearance, and upgrade to full secret within one year of start date. Failure to obtain an interim secret clearance after 1 year from start date may result in termination of employment.
