Fault Management Engineer

Description: This position supports the Orion SEIT-Fault Management team in the design, test and verification of the off nominal operation of the Orion spacecraft.

The work will focus on Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery within both Orion Software and Hardware. This includes: failure mode analysis of the hardware, review of FMEAs/Hazard reports, requirements development, algorithm development, FIT data population, data validation, and test & verification of the integrated algorithms.

Candidate will work under the direction of the FM Team Lead and will be responsible for ensuring FDIR products are built correctly, tested and verified across a variety of test beds. Candidate must have a background in systems engineering and working knowledge of software with the ability to coordinate all aspects of FDIR amongst many disciplines. Will be required to develop and test algorithms locally in a Python environment before developing test procedures, utilizing the Orion tool Automation Framework, and execute tests in the ITL. The selected applicant will be responsible for performing post-test data analysis. Candidate should be willing to travel in order to support test and verification of the FDIR design. Must be able to autonomously/pro-actively to seek out the required data to develop all of the above.
Desired Skills: Experience in the design, development, and integration of embedded software systems.
Integrated HW/SW Test experience, LM Test Engineering
Knowledge of the following would be valuable:
DOORS experience
Microsoft Office, Visio
Software Coding/Scripting  (C/C++, perl, python)
Linux or Unix Operating System
Oracle Database (sql) and or XML
Familiarity with Automation Framework
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. or higher degree from an accredited college in Engineering or Computer Science or a related discipline  
- Experience with requirements derivation, verification and test.
- Basic hands-on troubleshooting experience
- Hands on experience in a test environment and in meeting aggressive schedules and baseline delivery milestones
- Demonstrated project execution skills with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain issues at both a technical and non-technical level
- Experience interfacing with external stakeholders including other contractors and customers
- Experience in Systems Engineering and Software or Test Engineering
