Description:Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company's Optical Payload Center of Excellence is seeking candidate to conducts research and plans development and design of gas and solid state lasers, masers, infrared, and other light emitting and light sensitive devices. Designs electronic circuitry and optical components with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits and to perform according to specifications. May conduct application analysis to determine commercial, industrial, scientific, medical, military or other use for electro-optical devices.
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance required for this role.
BS Degree in electrical engineer, electro-optics, or related field. Completed basic college course work in optical engineering (e.g. lens design), mechanical engineering (including basic design, analysis, tolerance), laser design (potentially embedded in an advance physics or electrical engineering program) or electrical engineering (with a focus on sensor technology). Laboratory physics course work or experience related to electro-optical systems. Hardware experience building electro-optical system (autonomous vehicle sensor project, ground based telescope build and operation) or image processing experience (e.g. computer vision project, autonomous vehicle image processing project). Solid understanding of EO lab and test equipment. Commitment to collaborative technology development. Excellent communication skills.
This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Strong understanding of digital electronics, especially high speed serial interfaces (Gbps class), signal integrity, and timing
Knowledge of focal plane suppliers and products
