Electronic Technician Specialist
Description: This occupation performs a wide variety of tasks requiring mechanical, electrical, and optical fabrication using assembly and test skills to support various programs. Fabricate laser systems and wire harnesses, perform continuity and other in-process checks using appropriate equipment and procedures. These responsibilities will include fabrication of fiber optic assemblies and laser test boxes, electronic/electrical chassis' and mechanical rack fabrication using development engineering drawings. Inventory and inspection of parts for compliance with work instructions and other documentation. Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Assemble details parts/ components into a final product following work instructions. Align, fit, and assemble test boxes, using hand tools, and fixtures. Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of parts, assemblies, and record results. Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve problems. Create and work in a team environment while implementing Continuous Process Improvement. Write work instructions and maintain calibrated equipment. Candidate is expected to give/take work direction to/from team members.
Desired Skills: Experience in building fiber optic laser assemblies. Skills in building wire harnesses and testing switch boxes. History of removing, installing, repairing, inspecting and adjusting electronic equipment.
Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems and replacing electrical connectors, terminal lugs, and wires. Skills to perform repairs at component level on electronic equipment. Capability of Interpreting instructions, wiring diagrams, engineering documents, manuals and customer specifications, to determine materials needed. Experience in testing of electrical systems and troubleshooting. Ability to investigate process discrepancies and implement improvements. Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9000 standards and/or military process experience.
High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks and 3 years of experience. Experience in electronics installations, wiring, electrical testing and manufacturing field. Familiarity of fiber optic routing, splicing and assembly. Experience and/or knowledge of proper use of standard hand tools. Knowledge or experience with engineering drawings or blueprints. Ability to complete routine work instructions with general supervision and complete jobs in new lines of work or special assignments with detailed work instructions.
